The team at an opticians in Newark are raising their glasses to a new leadership duo.

Specsavers Newark has welcomed Siddhant Majithia, 28, and Neil Popat, 23, as store directors with their sights set on providing the very best in optical and audiology care for the local community.

Beginning his career with Specsavers in 2015 as a Saturday assistant, Siddhant has achieved a vast amount in the last eight years. After graduating in Optometry in 2017, he went onto become clinical lead at Specsavers Leicester before taking up the role as head optometrist in 2020 at the Fosse Park store. Keen to progress, he then became a director of the Towcester store, buying into the business, before moving to Newark and joining Neil, who he’s known since he was just eight years old.

“I’m delighted to be here and I’m really excited to share my knowledge and expertise with the rest of the team as we look to the future,” says Siddhant. “To be joining my childhood friend, Neil, is amazing and I am looking forward to accomplishing all the goals we have set for ourselves in-store, alongside our support for the community.

“We’ve recently nominated the Newark Children’s Bereavement Centre as our local charity to support for this year and we’ll be revealing fundraising plans in the weeks ahead.”

Neil began his career with Specsavers in 2016. His highlights since then have included orchestrating the opening of Specsavers in Leicester’s Sainsbury’s, back in 2019, and completing his training to become a joint venture partner in 2020, before joining Siddhant to head up the Newark store.

“I’m so proud of how far I have come since joining the company,” Neil says. “I have achieved so much already, and I can’t wait to continue to develop both personally and professionally.

“We’re fortunate to have a great team here and are very excited about what the future holds. Our commitment to offering the very best in eye and ear care means that we’ve already invested in a store makeover, with work expected to be finished in the coming [days] – we can’t wait to see what the local community think.

“And don’t forget, we also offer home visits for those who need it, using the same specialist equipment that has been adapted for use at home.”
