Twelve athletes from Nottinghamshire have been selected to compete at the 2022 School Games National Finals, the UK’s biggest multi-sport event for talented young athletes across the UK.

Competing at Loughborough University from 1st to 4th September will be 14-year-old Esme Brook, a BMX cyclist from Newark., and Holly Lounds, 18, who will compete in wheelchair basketball.

Mansfield’s Jordyn Newton, 16, who plays wheelchair basketball, and athlete Brandon Lee, of Mansfield Woodhouse, are also among those taking part.

The four-day event will host more than 1,100 aspiring athletes, aged between 13 and 18, who will compete across 10 sports, four of which include disability disciplines.

The School Games National Finals is one of the many initiatives led by children’s charity, the Youth Sport Trust, to create a future where every child enjoys the life-changing benefits of play and sport.
