A golf day arranged by Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands raised more than £20,000 for its charity partner, Newark-based The Children’s Bereavement Centre.
Twenty teams made up of 80 golfers, including Barratt Homes’ employees and sub-contractors, took part in the tournament at Rufford Park Golf Course.
The charity provides specialist bereavement support services to children, young people, and their families across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, helping them navigate grief and build resilience following loss.
It offers a range of services, including one-to-one therapeutic support, group activities, and guidance for professionals, helping hundreds of families each year.
Clare Sears, community fundraiser at The Children’s Bereavement Centre, said: “We are absolutely blown away by the phenomenal amount of money raised. This truly is life changing for children and their families in the community.
“At a time when the need for our services is at its highest in all areas of Nottinghamshire, these funds will secure support from our counsellors, allow toys, arts and crafts, and therapeutic items to be purchased to share with the children. As a charity we are passionate that our free dedicated service is available to all. Thank you just does not seem enough.”
Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands is now in its second year of fundraising for the charity, after raising nearly £60,000 in its first year.
The developer is also currently fundraising for the charity’s six-day Sahara Desert Trek in November.
Mark Cotes, managing director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Midlands, said: “We were delighted to host this golf day for our employees and sub-contractors to raise funds for The Children’s Bereavement Centre to help it continue its important work.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who took part, donated, and helped make the day so memorable. The generosity shown will have a lasting impact on the charity we support.”
