A new play area and green space for Middlebeck has opened.
Created by Urban&Civic, the master developer behind the community at Middlebeck, the new space on Bluebell Drive — which extends to nearly the size of three football pitches — has been named Bluebell Meadows thanks to help from local residents.
The space includes new paths and walking routes, benches, and a diverse range of natural habitats designated as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC), all aimed at supporting ecological preservation.

Alongside this, a separate play area features timber-based equipment for all ages. It boasts an array of equipment, including climbing logs; timber platforms with a tube slide; stepping stilts; climbing boulders; a hill top slide; and more.
Urban&Civic appealed to Middlebeck residents for help in naming the space. Bluebell Meadows was chosen by Theodore, who is in Year 2 at Christ Church School, and Middlebeck residents the Titterton family — Matilda, Freddie, Betsy and Tallulah.

The name reflects both the play area’s location on Bluebell Drive, opposite family homes built by Miller Homes, as well as the hundreds of native bluebells that are set to be planted as part of a wider planting scheme.
Simon Murphy, Urban&Civic’s community development lead for Middlebeck, said: “We’re over the moon to see Bluebell Meadows now open for our Middlebeck families to enjoy. There’s something for people of all ages, from just enjoying green space to innovative play equipment for youngsters to get involved in.
“We were overwhelmed by the response to our shout-out for help naming the space, and thank you to everyone who got involved.
“We think Bluebell Meadows sums up this wonderful space, and while we’ve still got some landscaping left to do we can’t wait to see it become more established over time.”
