The free Streets Ahead event, part of the ongoing Newark Creates cultural programme organised by Newark Cultural Consortium in association with SO Festival, will take place on Sunday, 15th June in Newark Market Place, from 11am to 3pm.
National and international street theatre, acrobatics, music, and comedy, together with market stalls, are promised.
Streets Ahead will be welcoming professional dance company 2Faced Dance at 11am to 11.30am and 1pm to 1.30pm with their performance of Last Orders – introducing four men in a local pub who are forced to confront their differences with vats of physicality, barrels of humour and a pounding soundtrack.
Belgium-based circus company 15ft6 will entertain from 11.45am to 12.30pm with their outdoor production ‘League & Legend’, set on a sports pitch. Armed with pole vaults, poles and tape, they beat every record on their way to the top.
Local musical duo The Fighting Nightingales will be providing laughs with performances from 12.30pm to 1pm and 1.30pm to 2pm, where they’ll be setting comically tall tales to strange music.
There will also be walkabout performances from Pif-Paf Theatre: FlyCycle & Submercycle, giving people imagination-powered travel experiences, and The Flying Buttresses: Hodman and Sally, the award-winning puppets featuring two tiny backpackers.
