Residential care home hosts race day preview event

Share:

Red Roofs Residential Care Home treated residents, families, and staff to a Races Day celebration,  ahead of next week’s main Day at the Races event on Saturday, 23rd August.

General manager Trish Smith and care assistant Berkeley Daniel surprised everyone by appearing in inflatable horse costumes, much to the delight of both residents and their families.

A highlight of the day came when the hobbyhorses were dismounted, and a special four-legged visitor, a Falabella pony, proved to be the star of the show. Residents and family members took turns enjoying pony rides around the grounds, with everyone cheering on each rider in true racing day spirit.

The Day at the Races will include raffle draws, tombola games, a Give A Teddy A Name competition, a special Jellycats raffle, water and wine games, a challenge to guess the amount of sweets in a jar, and a mystery donated gift to be revealed on the day.

Trish said: “Watching our residents light up and seeing our incredible staff and families throw themselves into the fun is exactly what our community is all about. Our team’s enthusiasm and warmth make all the difference, and I couldn’t be more excited for next week’s celebration.”
