Palace Theatre launches Autumn programme

Posted onPosted on 13th Aug

After more than a year, the Palace Theatre Newark has released a new brochure. The autumn programme is brimming with shows befitting the theatre’s first season back after its centenary in 2020.

Honouring this recent birthday, a host of national treasures have come together to make this programme shine. From cricketing legend Sir Geoffrey Boycott to classic crooner Tony Christie and the hilarious Jasper Carrott, the stars are flocking to this local landmark to ensure its new season is even more fantastic than ever before.

Theatre manager Carys Coulton-Jones said: “We’re so excited to welcome guests back to experience the magic of theatre once more with this packed programme. I’m so proud of our team for working away at it over the past year, making this long-awaited brochure as special as it should be.

“When you pick up a copy, you’ll also see a highlighted message from us about your safety as we want you to know that we are still holding this as our top priority. We’ve kept in place many of our COVID-secure procedures and introduced a money-back guarantee if you’re experiencing COVID symptoms or self-isolating when it comes to your event.”

Music fans, as ever, are in for a treat as folk and country stars The Shires and Seth Lakeman are scheduled to appear, while the incredible Eddi Reader and Elkie Brooks also feature. Some sparkling local talents are back too with rousing music from Newark and Sherwood Concert Band and the Royal Air Force In Concert as well as the stunning Queen tribute Mercury.

The theatre is even celebrating its roots as a cinema with a sing-a-long screening of the much-loved The Greatest Showman film complete with fun host and props bags next month. And of course, there is some amazing drama on the roster from thrilling Shakespeare with Macbeth to hilarious parody in Not: Lady Chatterley’s Lover.

Running from September to January, the brochure also covers the festive season with the magical ballet Swan Lake, a merry appearance from Jason Manford and the biggest and best family event of the year, pantomime! This year, Dick Whittington and His Cat is ready to take you on a rags to riches adventure across the seas, complete with dazzling dame, fabulous songs and costumes and laugh-out-loud jokes aplenty.

The Palace Theatre autumn brochure is available to pick up now whether you’re visiting the Box Office, Café Nineteen20 or National Civil War Centre, all open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 3pm. A copy can also be viewed online at www.palacenewark.com.
