On June 16th, Newark Creates, in association with SO Festival, is welcoming two international Street Theatre & Outdoor Arts shows to Newark.
There will be juggling, hip hop dancing hippos, and the chance to have a go at activities around the Market Place.
Zum Zum Theatre, a Spanish cross-disciplinary performing arts company founded in 1994, will be performing Hippos. The 25-minute piece will be performed at 11am and again at 1pm.
There will also be two performances of the hour-long De Cuyper vs. De Cuyper. This circus piece is by Cie Pol & Freddy, the titular De Cuyper brothers who create their work in Belgium. In a swirling sports stadium, the two juggling brothers will compete against each other. Enthusiastic supporters, a strict referee and a (not always objective) reporter complete the fun. It will be at 11.30am and 2.30pm.
Other interactive events will be taking place throughout the day, including from 12.30pm–2.30pm when the Circus Starlight team will be hosting a drop-in circus skills workshop.
