Following its huge success last term, the National Civil War Centre has announced the return of Mini Museum and this time it’s free.
Families with children under-five are invited to take part in free Mini Museum sessions aimed at encouraging young ones to play and explore the National Civil War Centre in Newark.
Each week has a different theme, communicated through songs, stories, and play as well as activities like treasure hunts, sand pits, and other ways for pre-schoolers to engage and enjoy themselves.
National Civil War Centre manager Carys Coulton-Jones said: “We strongly believe in welcoming visitors of all ages and creating an environment which encourages play and discovery.
“Mini Museum is an opportunity for young children to experience the centre in a completely new way and explore the galleries in a safe and fun environment.
“I am delighted to announce that these sessions are free for children and their parents, carers or childminders and given the current financial situation hope they go a little way in helping families at this difficult time.”
Coun Rhona Holloway, portfolio holder for Economic Development and Visitors, said: “We, at the district council, are doing all we can to help residents with the rising cost of living and I’m delighted we are able to run these sessions free of charge. The National Civil War Centre really is a place for children to have fun, learn, grow and develop so I encourage anyone with a pre-school child to drop in for one of these fantastic free and fun sessions!”
