Cricket club welcomes players and volunteers

Posted onPosted on 14th Feb

New players are welcome at Farnsfield Cricket Club as it intensifies preparations for the new season.

The Women’s and Girls’ section has been training throughout the winter and is currently training on a Sunday, from 3pm to 4.30pm at Ravenshead Leisure Centre.

Anyone interested in joining is welcome, no matter their age, ability or experience.

The team has a new coach, Neil Atkin, who is also captain of the open age 3rd XI.

Neil has been helping the section to develop cricketing skills, and the section entered two teams in the Nottinghamshire Indoor League, which started in January, competing well against more experienced teams.

The Women’s and Girls’ team thanked three new sponsors for its newly-designed playing shirts — Minster Veterinary Centre, Focus Consultants, and Le Petit Vert.

Both the Open Age and Junior sections have also started their winter nets.

A new development for the club is the appointment of Gary Lambert as head coach.

Gary, an advanced level coach, previously played for Farnsfield and has coached Nottinghamshire Ladies, among others.

Four players of the junior section have been training with the county age-group squads.

The under-13 team has entered an indoor league based at Mansfield Hosiery Mills Cricket Club on Sunday afternoons as part of its preparation for the 2024 season.

Farnsfield Cricket Club is always looking for new members — players, supporters, volunteers or sponsors.

Anyone interested should contact enquiries@farnsfieldcricketclub.co.uk.
