The Rotary Club of Sherwood Forest has presented its annual Robin Hood Award for services to the community to Army veteran June Dabbs, of Ollerton.
June has been an active member of the Royal British Legion for many years and has worked tirelessly each year as the treasurer and Poppy Appeal organiser.
The role of Poppy Appeal organiser means she has ensured schools and local businesses within Ollerton, Boughton and the surrounding area are visited and supplied with Poppy boxes.
She checks the boxed are filled with the relevant Poppy-related items ready for taking out to numerous locations throughout her local area.
June had intended to step down from the role last year but because the branch had no other member to fill the position she has agreed to continue.
Under June’s guidance a small team of Ollerton and District Royal British Legion members and Rotary Club members are on hand each year to assist June with the stand outside the Tesco store, Ollerton, in the run up to Remembrance Day.
