Residents mark Royal birthday celebrations with regal crown creations

Posted onPosted on 12th Jun

A Newark care home has been hand crafting crowns and decorations to get ready for the upcoming royal birthday celebration.

Residents at Red Roofs Residential Care Home, Newark, have been making golden head gear and Royal themed garlands ready for the Trooping of the Colour parade on Saturday, 15th June.

The parade, which celebrates the official birthday of King Charles, is the second ceremony since his coronation on 6th May, 2023.

On Saturday residents will be holding an afternoon tea party to mark the occasion where they will be able to wear their new crowns and display the red, white and blue decorations.

Trish Smith, manager at Red Roofs Residential Care Home, said it was important for residents to be able to take part and join in marking the royal celebrations.

She said: “The Trooping of the Colour is an important part of British history, and we are proud to be able to mark the occasion with our residents. Creating royal crafts and celebrating together is the perfect way of uniting with friends and family to mark the King’s official birthday.

“Thank you to everyone who will joining us in raising the roof and making the occasion so special.”
