Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire visits Castle House

Share:

The Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir John Peace, went to the Castle House headquarters of Newark and Sherwood District Council on Friday.

Also in attendance was the Nottinghamshire High Sheriff, Paul Southby;  council chairman Coun Sue Saddington; council leader Coun David Lloyd; and chief executive John Robinson.

Sir John and the High Sheriff both signed a Book of Condolence for the death of Queen Elizabeth II and Sir John then led a minute’s silence observed by guests and council staff.

Sir John was appointed by the Queen as her representative in Nottinghamshire and is playing a key role in the period of national mourning.

The minute’s silence was in advance of the national one minute’s silence at 8pm on Sunday evening.
