Free trees for parish councils

Posted onPosted on 22nd Jan

Newark and Sherwood District Council’s free trees initiative for residents proved extremely popular.

That part of the project has now closed, but there is still time for parish councils across the district to get involved.

Parish councils have until Friday, 21st February, to apply for up to 50 free oak, silver birch, rowan, hawthorn or field maple trees.

The parish councils must propose the location, show they have permission to use the site and confirm that they will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance of the trees.

The scheme is part of the district’s ongoing Cleaner, Greener and Safer initiative.
