To mark her tenure as chair of Newark and Sherwood District Council, Coun Jean Hall is embarking on a personal charity challenge. Over two weeks – one in March and one in May – she will be walking and cycling, showcasing the area, promoting eco-friendly travel, and connecting with community groups.
Jean is undertaking this challenge to raise funds for three charities – Nottinghamshire Mind, Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, and Newark Women’s Aid.
The first leg of her challenge begins on Monday, 3rd March, when she will hop on a Brompton Bike outside Castle House in Newark and cycle to Southwell via Lowdham and surrounding villages.
Donations can be made to the three charities on her JustGiving page.
Jean said: “It has been an absolute honour to serve as chair of the council. I have had an incredible year attending events across the district. I’ve been deeply moved by the vibrant and diverse community we have, and to celebrate this amazing district, I have decided to take on a challenge to raise funds for the three brilliant charities I have supported during my time as chair.
“I will walk and bike the length and breadth of our lovely district whilst raising funds for three very important charities that do vital work in our district. I’m also hoping to connect with some of our fantastic community groups along the way. I can’t wait to get started!
“Your donations can make a real difference! Please consider contributing to these worthy causes, and together we can support mental health, protect our wildlife, and aid those in need.”
