Following a busy Christmas playing in the community Dukeries Community Band is back in rehearsal, studying new pieces and hoping that a concert will be possible sometime this year.

A spokesman said: “We continue to attract new players and hope that many more will join the band this term.

“So if you used to play or have been learning to play over recent years, why not consider coming along to try us out?

The band meets at 7pm in the Concert Hall of The Dukeries Academy, Ollerton.

The current rehearsal folder contains a lot of well-known film themes, plus music from the world of pop.

Brass, woodwind and percussion instruments are the main parts of the band, but it is looking for more clarinet and brass players in particular.
