Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire has secured a £1,000 donation from a local housebuilder to help support its services during the coronavirus pandemic.
The charity received the funds from the Persimmon Homes Community Champions scheme.
The match-funding initiative seeks to support grassroots groups and charities in areas where the company is building. The housebuilder has recently announced the scheme will exclusively support groups which help people aged over 70.
The housebuilder made the decision to throw its support behind groups which benefit the older generation in light of the Covid-19 crisis.
Lauren McGowan, from Age UK Nottingham & Nottinghamshire, said: “This is a wonderful boost to our funding.
“We had to quickly redeploy our services to better support the older people in our community, and our service can only be as strong as the support we gain from others, like Persimmon Homes.”
Neil Follows, managing director at Persimmon Homes Nottingham, said: “We are delighted to support our local Age UK. Their work is invaluable in helping our older generation during this difficult time.
“Groups working with under-18s are invited to apply for our Building Futures funding, which will make grants to projects across education & arts, health and sport.
