A racing driver from Fernwood is celebrating yet more success after a winning weekend in the third meeting of the GT Cup Championship.
Jamie Falvey is a driver for Team BRIT, the world’s only competitive team of all-disabled racing drivers, and competed in his third GT3 race weekend of the year.
Jamie and team mate Paul Fullick raced in meeting three of the GT Cup at Donington, with hopes of building on their impressive start to the 2026 season, which had already seen them set racing records in their debut outing.
Saturday couldn’t have started any better, with Jamie putting their BMW M4 GT3 on pole in qualifying, before converting it into a victory in the sprint race.
In the pit stop race, a technical gremlin caused the car to cut out, dropping them to the back of the field. Paul managed to restart the car and fought his way back through the pack before handing over to Jamie, who brought the car home in third.
Sunday began with another pole position in qualifying. Despite an early safety car pausing the race, Jamie built a healthy lead in the pit stop race before handing over to Paul, who drove brilliantly and narrowly missed out on victory. Paul then rounded off the weekend with another second place finish in the final sprint race.
This success builds on Jamie and Paul’s season opener, in which they were the first ever disabled pairing to win a GT3 race outright, the first ever amateur pairing to win a GT3 race outright and the first pairing to win a GT3 race on what was the debut GT3 race for both.
Jamie served in the Royal Marines commandos to the rank of lance corporal. He was medically discharged after sustaining hearing damage, resulting in permanent tinnitus and severe hearing loss in one ear, which curtailed his career in the military. Paul is a lower leg amputee following a motorbike crash.
Jamie said: “It was such a great weekend with some promising results leading into the second half of the season.
“Ultimately, it was a great job by the engineering team who gave us a superb car set up in very difficult and hot conditions.
“It’s such a great feeling to be driving the Team BRIT BMW M4 GT3 at the front, showing the world exactly what we can do.”
Jamie and Paul race again at Silverstone on 1st and 2nd August.
Since its formation in 2015, Team BRIT has been dedicated to revolutionising disability motorsport, breaking down barriers and proving that nothing is impossible. Over the past decade, the team has progressed from entry-level racing to offering a variety of levels of racing for drivers at all levels of experience, right up to GT3.
