Magnus C of E Academy held its annual prizegiving event to recognise students’ achievements over the past year at the Newark school.
Various awards were given in line with the academy’s values of determination, integrity, ambition, humility, and compassion, as well as attendance, sports and subject prizes.
During the awards ceremony, year 7 student Beatrice Cullen (below) performed a ballet piece from Swan Lake, and Indie Wharton, year 10, sang Make You Feel My Love with the Magnus Swing Band, accompanied by music teacher Neil Wright on piano.
Year 7 and 8 dancers also performed a piece to Revolting Children from Matilda the Musical!
Mark Peyton, assistant principal, said: “Our Academy Awards ceremony is a chance for us to celebrate some of the brilliant memories we have made as an academy over the course of the year.
“Our staff and students have been working hard to help make our vision of developing young people of good character, who achieve excellence and make a positive contribution to their communities a reality.”
Executive principal Anna Martin said she was proud of the students, adding: “As a whole staff we are so proud of our students’ resilience and determination to succeed in their studies, sports and extra-curricular work.
“Despite this being a challenging year for many, our students have shone through with a determination to be the best they can be and thoroughly deserve recognition for their efforts.
“At least 548 students received at least one nomination for an award, that’s 93% of the student body. An amazing indication of the ambition and determination among Magnus students, developing talents to benefit not just themselves, but also for those in our wider community.
“We would like to thank everyone who supported us to celebrate the achievements of our fantastic students this year.”
