Newark business owner Scott Hinton is hoping to raise thousands of pounds to enable a charity to provide hundreds of hours counselling time for young people and children.
Scott, founder of Fineline market research, is organising the first annual charity golf day in memory of his daughter, Olivia (pictured with Scott), and his best friend’s son, Josh Ashworth.
It will take place at Stanton-On-The-Wolds Golf Club on 30th June.
Money raised will go to CASY (Counselling and Support for Young People), which was founded to provide emotional support to young people in Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire through counselling sessions, training, workshops, and talks for young people, parents and carers, therapists, and school staff.
Since its inception the charity has made a difference to more than 2,000 young people, delivering around 16,000 hours of counselling hours every year.
Fineline, which works closely with CASY, has already raised £4,000 from the sold-out charity golf day, along with an estimated £2,000 from an auction that will be available on the day.
Scott said: “Losing Olivia tragically four years ago is something you don’t get over and, as a parent, it’s pain like no other.
“I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a counsellor to help me and my family deal with grief.
“I see value in how I can apply the emotional support in everyday life, but for those having to wait upto 130 weeks to see someone in the NHS is heartbreaking, and if
I can allocate time to host an event to raise as much money as possible to generate counselling hours then I will continue to focus on making this impact for local young people.
“The support we’ve received from fellow business owners is humbling, and a big thanks to the magnificent Stanton-On-The-Wolds Golf Club, which has very generously given us the course free.”
CASY chief executive Mick Mason added: “We are only able to help young people thrive and make positive changes with opportunities to talk to professionals through generous donations from companies and individuals like Scott.
“Keeping us at the forefront of their fundraising efforts, along with helping us to raise our profile and create awareness locally, will enable us to help even more young people in need of our support.”
