Bakkavor Desserts in Newark has named Newark Salivation Army as its partner charity for 2022 — after raising £4,500 for the Emmaus Trust in Newark over the last year.
Each year, Bakkavor Newark staff are given the opportunity to vote for a local charity the business will support for the year ahead.
Over the course of the 12-month period, they organise a range of activities and support community events to raise as much money as possible for their chosen charity.
The Salvation Army in Newark has both a charity shop and a book shop, where it welcomes local volunteers of all ages. The charity has a wide variety of initiatives planned that Bakkavor Desserts hopes to support.
The business hopes to put a clothing donation bank on site for colleagues to donate to, and it plans to get involved with a number of toy, food and clothing appeals.
Bakkavor worked with the Emmaus Trust on various projects to raise money for the award-winning charity that helps vulnerable and homeless people in and around Newark, by providing temporary quality accommodation with professional care, support and training.
Andrjez Szokalski, general manager – operations at Bakkavor Desserts Newark, added: “We’re so pleased that, following our sponsored cycle challenge, we were able to raise £4,500 for the Emmaus Trust in Newark and this marked a great finale to a successful 2021 working with this fantastic charity.
“As we start a New Year, we are looking forward to working with The Salvation Army, a charity chosen by all our fellow Bakkavor colleagues. They are doing very meaningful and significant work and we are excited to see where, we as a business, can bring the charity real value over the next year.”
