Colourful fundraising

Posted onPosted on 19th May

Lovers’ Lane Primary and Nursery School in Newark held a colourful fundraising event in support of the Lifting Children’s Hopes (LCH) charity.

Children and staff ran through clouds of colours to raise £800 for the charity, which is charity dedicated to supporting children and young people across the East Midlands. It provides a range of services, including mental health support, financial assistance for low-income households, and also enriching experiences and family events, such as short breaks and day trips for children.

The charity also works closely with schools.

Lovers’ Lane headteacher James Wood said it wanted to partner with the charity because they shared the same values.

“Our partnership with LCH Charity strongly aligns with our vision of Empowering Everyday Excellence by widening opportunity and raising aspirations for all children,” he added.

“Their support helps us remove barriers, enrich experiences, and ensure every pupil has the chance to thrive. As a school and wider partnership, we are driven by the principle of making every day count, and we view community partnerships as a vital way of strengthening outcomes for children.

“By holding this fundraising event, we felt we could give back to a charity that supports our children and the community they live in.”

The school is part of the Flying High Partnership.

Year 3 pupil Howa said: “The Colour Dash was really fun because everyone got messy and laughed together. Kindness is a school value, and I liked that we were helping other children as a whole school.”

Fellow pupil Calum, who is in Year 6, and added: “The Colour Dash showed how our school comes together to support each other and help children who need it. It was great fun, but it also felt good knowing we were raising money for a charity that helps other families.”
