It’s Volunteer Week from 1st-7th June and Beaumond House Hospice, Newark, is highlighting and celebrating the important work of its helpers.
The hospice said: “They’re a crucial part of our team and contribute to almost all areas of our work. Without their time and support, we couldn’t provide our vital services.
“There’s no denying it’s been a difficult two years but our volunteers are a dedicated and committed bunch. As a result, they’ve continued to help us make a huge difference to our patients, their families and our local communities.”
Chief executive Heidi Hawkins added: “Without our volunteers doing what they do in every area of our charity, we simply couldn’t deliver our care to the people who need it in the way that we do.”
Volunteer Jayne Wright said: “I love volunteering in Day Therapy on a Wednesday. We make sure that everyone is well cared for and has the best day possible. We have such a laugh with so many different activities but we also make time to just listen and give comfort when required.
“Everyone at Beaumond House is so friendly, caring and welcoming, I feel like part of a family! I also love helping out at fundraising events when I can, it’s so important to help to raise much needed funds for such a special place.
“I would definitely recommend becoming a volunteer, even if you can only spare a few hours!”

- Shop volunteers (urgently required)
- Hospice reception volunteers
- Volunteer drivers
- Facilities volunteer
- Event/fundraising volunteers
