Pub nights planned at Gannets

Posted onPosted on 20th May

A cafe in the heart of Middlebeck is to be transformed into the community’s own pub.

Gannets will become the ‘Gannet Arms’ for three nights through the summer, offering a licensed bar, street food, and garden games — with the first taking place on Friday, 5th June.

Further events, which run from 6pm to 9.30pm, will take place on Friday, 3rd July and Friday, 7th August.

The pub nights are part of a series of evening events at Gannets organised by Urban&Civic, the master developer behind the community at Middlebeck and were added in response to requests following last year’s successful programme.

On all three dates, the bar will be run by craft brewery 8 Sail Brewery, with different food offerings on each night. On 5th June, Koala Kitchen will be serving up authentic Asian street food, then in July Firehouse Pizza will be on the scene, and in August The Naughty Pig will have street food, ranging from loaded fries to a Turkish kebab.

On all three nights dessert will be offered by Paddington’s Waffle Station.

Each night will also feature live music from different performers, including covers artist Sole Trader on 5th June, Nottinghamshire-based country artist Jack Brett on 3rd July, and singer-songwriter Becky Syson on 7th August.

The events will make use of Gannets’ outdoor space, with live music being performed from a gazebo in the Gannet Arms’ ‘beer garden’.

Younger guests and families will also be able to enjoy giant garden games.

Simon Murphy, Urban&Civic’s community development lead for Middlebeck, said: “We ran a programme of events last year at Gannets, which proved a real hit with overwhelmingly positive feedback, bringing the community together for different events, and providing somewhere local to socialise in the evenings in Middlebeck.

“One request was to add pub nights, so we’ve done just that and are looking forward to people joining us at the ‘Gannet Arms’ for three evenings of craft beer, food and live music. We can’t wait for our first pub night on 5th June, and if you’re looking for things to do in the evenings in the coming months, make sure you check out everything else we’ve got going on.”
