Parish councillor David Mack is to cut the ribbon to open Jerry Green Dog Rescue’s new charity shop in Fernwood on Monday, 16th February.
David will open the store at 10am, helping to mark a milestone for the much-loved charity.
He said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be supporting Jerry Green Dog Rescue and to help celebrate the opening of their new Fernwood shop. Fernwood residents are well known to be dog lovers, so I’m sure they will be keen to support the work of such as great charity.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting everyone on the day.”
Since opening its Blidworth rehoming centre in 2015, Jerry Green Dog Rescue has become a part of Nottinghamshire life, rehoming hundreds of dogs in need. The new Fernwood charity shop, located at Unit 6 Fernwood Park, Balderton, will bring Jerry Green’s retail network to seven shops across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, each one helping to raise vital funds to give abandoned and unwanted dogs a second chance at happiness.
The opening will feature an appearance from Rusty, the charity’s dog mascot, puppacinos for four-legged friends, free balloons for children, and the opportunity to meet the Jerry Green team.
Visitors can browse a selection of pre-loved clothing, homeware, and unique finds.
Lynne McMahon, head of retail at the charity said: “Fernwood has a fantastic community spirit, and we can’t wait to celebrate with local people on opening day. Since establishing our Blidworth centre in 2015, Nottinghamshire has shown incredible support for our work. This shop is a new way for everyone to get involved, whether by donating, shopping, or volunteering, and every action helps transform the lives of dogs who need us.”
With the countdown on to the big day, Jerry Green Dog Rescue is calling for donations of quality pre-loved goods and applications from volunteers eager to join the friendly shop team. From sorting stock to greeting customers, every helping hand makes a difference.
