The Children’s Bereavement Centre is inviting families and community members to come together this December to remember loved ones at its annual Christmas candlelight services.
Two services will be held on Thursday, 4th December at 6.30pm at St Giles Church, Balderton; and on Tuesday, 9th December at 6.30pm at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Mansfield.
The charity said the free, community-focused, family-friendly events offer an opportunity to reflect, remember, and honour those who are no longer with us. Attendees will take part in candle lighting, readings, hymns, and Christmas songs, with the evening concluding over hot chocolate and mince pies.
The Newark service will feature special performances by Norwell Village Voices, Chuter Ede Primary School, and Barnby Road Choirs.

Everyone is welcome to attend both services — you do not need to have accessed support from the Children’s Bereavement Centre to join in.
For those unable to attend in person, the centre also offers the chance to light a virtual candle online via its Christmas Candlelight Tribute Page. This special online space allows individuals to share the name, message, or memory of a loved one during the festive season. Go to https://christmascandlelight.memorypage.org/
If you would like your loved one’s name read out at the services, contact Julie on 01636 551739 or via email at [email protected] with the name and chosen venue.
