Posted onPosted on 10th Oct

The Prince Rupert Pub is reopening its doors on Thursday 10th October following an extensive £170,000 refurbishment – creating a community pub that still delivers its medieval charm and heritage, but with modern playful touches.

The Woolpack speakeasy bar pays homage to the pub’s earlier identity, and is accessed via a previously-hidden entrance. It there on Friday, 18th October.

The pub’s interior now has contemporary finishes, but still with its medieval nooks and crannies.

Alongside the real ales and drinks choices already loved by locals, a bigger, bolder range of spirits, ciders and craft beers will also be available. The food menu will continue to celebrate and showcase pub classics, as well as brand new pizza options.

The new iteration of The Prince Rupert Pub will also see the creation of Newark’s worst-kept secret, ‘The Woolpack’ speakeasy, which opens from Friday 18th October. Paying homage to the pub’s earlier identity, The Woolpack is accessed via a previously hidden entrance and will be providing those ‘in the know’ with moody lighting, killer cocktails and a nod to the 70s. Mum’s the word…

Samantha Johnson, general manager, who has run the pub for nine years, said: “We can’t wait to throw open the doors and welcome guests in to explore what we’ve created here. Providing quality, laid-back experiences that keep people coming back time and again is so important to us, and we are looking forward to delivering a beautiful space where the community, and visitors to the area, can escape, switch off and relax.

“We will be playing host to a number of events as well, so make sure to keep an eye on our socials and website.”
