The Rotary Club of Sherwood Forest’s fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK has passed £2,000.
Throughout the current Rotary year, club members have taken to two wheels in support of the charity.
The 1220 Challenge was initially put forward by Rotarians Dave and Laura Dennis, who proposed to cycle 1,220 miles throughout the current Rotary year.
Other Rotarians within the club expressed an interest to be part of the event and eventually there were 23 active participants from clubs throughout District 1220 as well as non-Rotarians.
Those taking part are doing sums of 1220 from 122 miles right through to 4880.
The idea initially was to encourage people to exercise through the coronavirus pandemic, give something to focus on whilst raising a little money.
The club said: “What has happened has far exceeded our expectations.
“Thank you to everyone who is taking part and to those who have donated sponsorship so far.

The club’s annual Christmas Message was given this year by Father John Anthony, from Swansea. Father John is a long-standing friend of club president Malcolm Bevan and joined a meeting via Zoom. Members also enjoyed a virtual Christmas party, complete with mince pies and a quiz.
