The Rotary Club of Ravenshead and Blidworth, which annually hosts a Santa Sleigh that travels around local villages in support of its festive appeal, has a message from Father Christmas for children in the area.
Father Christmas writes:
“Children of Ravenshead and Blidworth, this year I am having to be very careful to make sure that we stay safe so that I and all my elves are able to travel around the world on Christmas Eve.
“I still hope to be out and about spreading cheer in your street before Christmas Eve — in a Covid-19 safe way that also protects you.
As I need to check you have all been good, I want you to try to give a big Wave to Santa when I pass your house!
“Mum or dad, please check our website www.wavetosanta.org — it will contain up to date information about Santa’s route and even the ability to track Santa in real time, so that you know when he is coming.
“We would love young and old to Wave to Santa, so be sure to tell friends and neighbours.”
The Rotary club said they want the sleigh’s journey around local streets to be safe for everyone and urged people to follow the guidance on its website.
A spokesman said: “We will not be collecting any money as we go, and cannot hand out any gifts, so there is no need for youngsters to come on to the street.
“If government guidelines mean we cannot come around then Santa will let everyone know through video messages on www.wavetosanta.org
“The Rotary club of Ravenshead and Blidworth always appreciated the support it gets from you all during this time of year. This year we need your support even more.
“The Covid-19 virus has changed all our lives and it will influence the Rotary Santa Sleigh Christmas Appeal.
“Through our website you will be able to show your support and make a donation, please visit www.wavetosanta.org or you can follow us on our Facebook page.
“We look forward to seeing you and we ask that you say safe by adhering to the guidelines.”
The Rotary Club of Ravenshead and Blidworth meets regularly, currently via Zoom because of coronavirus restrictions.
