Work to restore the iconic Grade II* listed Ornamental Bridge at Clumber Park has been completed.

The bridge has been lovingly rebuilt using sections of the original stonework, recovered from the River Poulter beneath it after vandalism in March 2018, as well as specially-created stone provided by Croft Building and Conservation.

The National Trust was able to carry out other vital essential work to areas of the bridge whilst restoration was under way, thanks to funds raised by supporters.

“The morning I saw the bridge had been vandalised in such a way, it was completely heartbreaking.” said Beth Dawson, general manager for National Trust Clumber Park.

“Over the 200+ years the bridge has been standing proudly at Clumber Park, people have made their own precious memories there, from sharing time with family to proposals and engagements. After over two years of careful planning and meticulous restoration, we are overjoyed to be able to see our Ornamental Bridge looking at its glorious best again.
