Council tenants and leaseholders can further shape their local community with Newark and Sherwood District Council’s new Community Link Groups.
Taking place at locations across the district, the groups will provide a forum for tenants and leaseholders to raise issues and ideas that are important to them and their local community with officers and councillors from the council as well as partner organisations such as Nottinghamshire Police.
The new Community Link Groups will complement and provide feedback to the already established Local Influence Networks (LINs). They will provide a local focus and help the LIN chairs and the council identify actions to address feedback specific to the community involved.
Issues and ideas discussed at the Community Link Groups will be raised to the local LIN chair for further discussion at LIN meetings through to the council for consideration.
The launch of the new Community Link Groups will continue in September at:
William Ghent House, Balderton – 29 August, 6pm – 7pm
Coghill Court, Southwell – 19 September, 6pm – 7pm
Beaumont Walk, Yorke Drive – 27 September, 5.30pm – 6.30pm
Vine Way, Collingham and De Lacy Court Community Link Groups were launched in the last few weeks, but you can still get involved by attending the next meetings at:

William Bailey House, Collingham – 14 September, 10am – 12 noon
De Lacy Court, Ollerton – 26 September, 6pm – 7pm

Coun Lee Brazier, portfolio holder for Housing, said: “Our new Community Link Groups are an excellent chance for us to have a greater understanding as to what is important to our tenants, leaseholders, and each community in the district and how we can help or improve our services to better serve every tenant and leaseholder.
“These groups will sit underneath our Local Influence Networks, which already do a fantastic job at bringing feedback to the council’s attention, but will provide a more focused discussion for each community.
“We are always looking at ways to improve our housing services, and the feedback from our tenants and leaseholders is vital in influencing our ways of working.
“I would encourage any tenant interested in shaping our housing service for the better and helping us to join these events or one of the other ways we offer, depending on the time you have and how you would like to be involved. They are an excellent opportunity to have your voice heard.”
Tenants can get involved in many engagement opportunities such as policy reviews, mystery shopping, estate walkabouts and much more.
