Stepping out to help church restoration appeal

Posted onPosted on 15th Dec

Edwinstowe walking fundraisers Brian Hawkins, left, and Michael Dickinson — who have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the John Eastwood Hospice — turned their hands to a different cause in December.

The friends, who are both in their 70s, walked 50 miles of the Robin Hood Way as part of a campaign to raise more than £10,000 for restoration works at St Mary’s Parish Church, Edwinstowe.

People can still donate to their fundraising at https://tinyurl.com/y49nk3ef

Conservation and heritage charity Sherwood Forest Trust is also supporting the fundraising by planting and growing a locally collected Sherwood Forest acorn for every £1 donated to the campaign.

The saplings raised will be used in its future tree planting projects around north Nottinghamshire.
