Stepping back in time in Middlebeck

Share:

The Middlebeck Community Archaeology Event, held at All Saints’ Church in Hawton, gave people the chance to learn about discoveries dating back thousands of years, as well as the history of the area.

Now home to the Middlebeck Community, it has seen artefacts including the remains from the Bronze Age, Iron Age, and Roman times unearthed as part of excavations.

The event was organised by Urban&Civic — the master developer behind the community — alongside Hawton Church.

An Urban&Civic spokesman said: “Our archaeology event was hugely positive.

“More than 150 people attended and we had some great feedback.

“We’re hugely grateful to all the parties involved who helped bring to life some of the discoveries that have been made at Middlebeck, and it’s been great to involve the community and showcase some of the rich history behind this site.”
