Skin therapist celebrates two top national awards

Posted onPosted on 30th Jun

Marie Smith, founder of Alma Skin Health & Wellbeing in Balderton, has received national recognition after winning two awards.

She was successful at the International Institute for Active Ageing (IIAA) Skin Therapist of the Year Awards, taking first place in both the pigmentation and scarring categories.

The awards recognise outstanding expertise, client care, and treatment outcomes from skin therapists across the UK and Ireland.

With 30 years’ experience in the health and skin industry, Marie has developed the Skin120 Prime Programme, a personalised skin health programme designed around continuity of care, expert guidance, and adapting treatment as skin changes over time.

Marie said she believed pigmentation and scarring were about more than what is visible on the skin.

“For many people, these concerns can affect confidence, self-esteem and how they feel in everyday life,” she added.

“Healthy skin doesn’t happen by chance. It comes from understanding the person behind the skin’s concern, not just what we see on the surface.

“Every person’s skin is different, which is why every plan should be personalised and adapted as their skin changes.”

Marie supports a wide range of skin concerns, including acne, inflammation, rosacea, pigmentation, scarring, sensitivity, uneven skin tone, and the visible signs of ageing. She said she combines evidence-based skincare, nutritional support, and advanced professional treatments to help people.

“Winning these awards is an incredible honour, added Marie. “The greatest reward is seeing someone feel more comfortable and confident in their skin. That is why I love what I do.”
