Tripadvisor diner reviews during the last 12 months have earned the Ashiana Indian Restaurant, near Newark, a place among traveller’s favourites in Nottinghamshire for a second successive year.
Ashiana was notified of the accolade by global review platform Tripadvisor.
The badge of honour places the Ashiana in the top 10 per cent of restaurants in the world and means it has been consistently receiving good diner feedback for more than 12 months, despite the pandemic.
TripAdvisor said to owner Saiqul Miah (piuctured): “Each year we comb through genuine reviews, ratings and saves from travellers everywhere and we use that information to award the very best. You’re part of an exclusive group.”
This award puts the Ashiana in the same category as exceptional local dining venues, such as the two Michelin star Restaurant Sat Bains, Nottingham.
Saiqul said: “We were devastated when we had to close the restaurant at North Muskham because of the coronavirus lockdown, but in many ways there was a silver lining to it.
“We wisely used the time during the lockdown to completely refurbish the dining room and create a new alfresco garden area for our customers to enjoy. So far everyone has been blown away by the new Ashiana that they are dining at now that lockdown has eased. Myself and the team are so happy to be finally welcoming back our loyal diners.”
“I’m so proud of what we have all achieved at the Ashiana and this 2021 Travellers’ Choice award really is wonderful because it’s based on genuine, unsolicited feedback from our customers.
“At the Ashiana our ultimate goal is to make our customers happy and we look forward to doing that for many years to come.”
Kanika Soni, chief commercial officer at TripAdvisor, added: “I know the past year has been extremely challenging for tourism businesses. What has impressed me is how businesses adapted to these challenges, implementing new cleanliness measures, adding social distancing guidelines, and utilising technology to prioritize guest safety.
“The Travellers’ Choice Awards highlight the places that are consistently excellent, like the Ashiana Indian Restaurant — delivering quality dining experiences time and time again.”
