Remember a loved one at hospice’s services

Posted onPosted on 3rd Nov

Beaumond House Hospice Care, based in Newark, is hosting Light up a Life services in Southwell, Newark, Balderton, and Collingham in December.

Open to all, each service will feature readings, music, and moments for reflection and remembrance.

A spokesperson said: “Christmas can be a time of great joy, but Beaumond House understands that, for others, it can feel lonely.

“The hospice hopes you will join them to gather as a community, supporting each other and sharing memories in memory of those loved ones who are no longer with us.”

This year, Beaumond House has partnered with The Shed@Collingham to offer a hand-crafted, limited edition candle holder. Made from upcycled oak from a 175-year-old church pew, each piece has been carefully created to be a lasting keepsake.

“The importance of this collaboration for members of The Shed @ Collingham can’t be underestimated,” added Dez Williams, lead for shed wellbeing.

“They take pride not only in what they make, but also in knowing that what they create will be cherished forever by the recipient.”

Candle holders can be ordered via beaumondhouse.co.uk/events/light-up-a-life and collected from Beaumond House reception, charity shops, or at the services.

Andrea Ward, Individual Giving fundraising manager at Beaumond House, said: “Our Light up a Life appeal is a special way to remember our loved ones at this time of year. Join us to make a dedication, light a candle, enjoy beautiful musical performances, hear reflections, and share memories.

“Every donation helps us continue providing the very best care for patients and families.”

Donations start from £5 per dedication, and supporters can also buy a limited edition Light up a Life pin badge.

Dedications and donations can be made at beaumondhouse.co.uk/events/light-up-a-life.

Dedications are welcome in memory of anyone, not only those with a connection to Beaumond House.
You can also hang a personalised tag on the Christmas trees at each church during the services and light a candle in memory of your loved one.

Services will be on:

Tuesday 2nd December – St John the Baptist Church, Collingham, 6.30pm for 7pm start.

Thursday 4th December – Southwell Minster, 6.30pm for 7pm start.

Monday 8th December – St Giles Church, Balderton, 6.30pm for 7pm start.

Tuesday 9th December – Hope Methodist Church, Newark, 2.30pm for 3pm start.

The spokesperson added: “Please feel free to join us at the service of your choice, no booking is required.”
