Rainbows to host Virtual Christmas Concert

Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People wants the Nottinghamshire community to tune in their vocal chords and get in the festive spirit at a Virtual Christmas Concert.

Every Christmas, the hospice holds carol concerts across the East Midlands but because of Covid-19 restrictions, the concerts are just some of many events the charity has been forced to cancel this year – resulting in a dramatic loss in income.

So in true festive style, Rainbows is bringing a Virtual Christmas Concert to people’s homes on Sunday, 20 December, from 4pm.

Ali Furlong, head of community and events at Rainbows, said: “This year’s Christmas Concert will be a bit different to what we are all used to. But we guarantee, the event will still have you feeling festive, and there will be plenty of performances to enjoy from local schools, choirs and musicians.

“There is no cost to watch the concert but people will be able to make a donation online as they watch the festivities. This year has been such a tough year for our fundraising and donations are so gratefully received to help us continue providing vital care to over 450 children and young people with life-limiting illnesses.

“We hope to see you there enjoying the festivities from the comfort of your own home.”

The Christmas Concert is just one of a number of festive fundraising activities the charity has organised. Last month, Rainbows launched its Christmas Appeal in the hope of raising much needed funds at this difficult time. Having had to cancel almost all of its events this year and being forced to close its charity shops twice, fundraising has taken a huge hit.
