About Newark and Sherwood CVS
Newark & Sherwood Community Voluntary Service (CVS) is a support and development organisation, promoting and encouraging local voluntary activity in the Newark & Sherwood area. Established in 1979, Newark and Sherwood CVS is the known point of contact for the voluntary sector and the local communities.
We serve the largest district of Nottinghamshire, Newark and Sherwood, which comprises a mix of urban (Newark) and rural locations and includes areas such as ex -coal mining villages such as Ollerton, Rainworth and Blidworth.
CVS works collaboratively developing local community organisations; facilitating voluntary activities; encouraging and enabling cross–sector relationships working with local authority, the health authority and private sector as well as voluntary sector organisations making sure that local communities have a voice and where appropriate co-produce local services and initiatives for the benefit of citizens living in the district.
We are an accredited (VCQA) volunteer centre providing a local volunteering hub, that promotes volunteering opportunities, facilitates volunteering networks, provides a reputable brokerage service and offers advice and training around recruitment, management and stewardship of volunteers
CVS is represented and active on many local authority and health authority boards and is currently commissioned by the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group to engage with the public on health matters. There is an experienced Dementia Awareness Officer also on the team providing information and support.
