MP launches small business competition across Sherwood

Posted onPosted on 3rd Nov

Mark Spencer, Sherwood’s local Member of Parliament, has launched his 2020 Small Business Competition to celebrate and to recognise all the small and medium-sized businesses that operate across his constituency.

Mark is encouraging all residents to get involved and support their local businesses by nominating for the Small Business Competition.

Nominations are welcome from any small or medium-sized business that operates within the Sherwood Parliamentary constituency, whether that’s a local café, a small independent shop, a butcher or a market stall, to name just a few.

Mark Spencer said: “As a local business owner in Sherwood myself, I know how tough it can be to run a small business. It requires a huge amount of time, effort, determination and resolve. Alongside this, coronavirus means our small businesses have had to change and adapt to our different working practices.

“This has been a tough process- but I have been so impressed by the resolve and hard work of our small business owners across the whole constituency – they have really risen to the challenge.

“I wanted to hold this competition to thank and show our appreciation for all the hard work that our small businesses owners do across our area. They are the lifeblood of our communities, and I want to encourage my constituents to get involved; show your support for your locally based businesses by nominating them to win Sherwood’s Small Business Competition.”

“We have some exceptional small businesses right across the constituency, and I think this is a great way to show them just how much they are valued.”

To nominate a small or medium-sized business in your area, email Mark.Spencer.MP@parliament.uk. Make sure to include the name and contact details for the business and a reason for nomination that’s no more than 50 words.

Nominations are open until 27th November and the winner will be announced on Small Business Saturday, 5th December.
