Make a dash for children’s charity

Posted onPosted on 12th Nov

Newark’s most joyful fun run of the year is back!

Charity Santa Dash 2025, in support of the Children’s Bereavement Centre, will be on Sunday, 7th December.

The event promises a heart-warming day filled with community spirit, laughter, and plenty of Christmas sparkle.

The route starts opposite the Children’s Bereavement Centre, Mount School, taking dashers on a festive journey through the church gardens, past the Palace Theatre, and alongside the police station, before finishing in Newark Market Place. Every participant will receive a special commemorative medal, supplied by Newark Town Council and sponsored by Newark Royal Market.

Along the way, dashers can enjoy the ‘Present Grab;, from the Newark and District Round Table sleigh, where festive surprises — and even a golden ticket star prize — await. Top prizes have been donated by Currys and Newark and Sherwood District Council, including a £50 Newark & Sherwood Gift Card.

Entry fees are £10 for adults, £2.50 for children, and £20 for a family of two adults and up to three children.

Katie Gibson, fundraising executive at the Children’s Bereavement Centre, said: “The Santa Dash is a great festive event that brings families, friends, and colleagues together for some Christmas fun while taking a leisurely saunter around our beautiful town centre.

“We’re hoping that by bringing people into Newark, it will make for a vibrant Sunday lunchtime atmosphere.

“There’s free parking available in district council car parks, and we’re looking for dashers to take part — as well as volunteers to help steward the route and cheer on participants.

“All proceeds raised will ensure local bereaved families can continue to receive the vital support they need.”

This year’s event will feature live festive music from Radio Newark, and dogs are welcome.
