Magnus C of E Academy celebrate GCSE results day

Students at Magnus C of E Academy in Newark have been celebrating their GCSE results in a year in which the academy’s results have exceeded expectations.

Executive principal Anna Martin said: “This year’s results reflect the hard work and determination of both staff and students at the academy. All students achieved the results required to progress to their chosen next steps with a significant number achieving the highest grades in Maths, English, Science and other subjects.

“We are incredibly proud of our students and our academy, particularly in the way they have risen to the challenges of this last year. I wish all Magnus students the very best as they progress into further education or employment”.

Garth Freeman, assistant principal, added: “The positive progress score is a testament to all the hard work the teachers and students at the academy have put in this year. The weekly interventions slots, afterschool revision sessions, Easter school and the high-quality teaching and learning in lessons have all contributed to the excellent results at the academy this year. We are very proud of this year 11 cohort!”

Some notable results include Jasmine Fleetcroft , 9,L2D*,8,9,9,8,9,8 and 98 (Science Double Award GCSE), AJ Guskova 9,7,8,7,8,7, Dist (Performing Arts) , 6. Rueben Osborn 9,7,7,6,5,7,4 65 (Science Double Award GCSE), 5 and Billy Tivey 6,6,7,76 (Science), 6.

Chris Moodie, CEO of the Southwell and Nottingham Multi-Academy Trust said, “Staff and students have overcome many challenges this year and this set of results reflects their determination and hard work. Well done to all!”
