Light up a life with Beaumond House

Posted onPosted on 13th Nov

Beaumond House is inviting people to shine a light on the life of someone they love this December — an opportunity to remember family and friends while supporting the care provided by the Newark hospice.#

It recognises that for some people Christmas can be lonely.

The hospice is hosting Light up a Life services, lighting candles in memory of loved ones who are no longer with us.

Sue Hallam, healthcare assistant at Beaumond House, said: “We would like to say thank you to all the families who allow us to care for their loved ones at home. It truly is a great privilege.

“My own family and friends have used our Hospice at Home team, and this really brought it home for me how wonderful my friends and colleagues were. I will be forever grateful.”

To support the Light up Light appeal you can make a personal dedication to a loved one, which will be displayed in a Book of Remembrance. Dedications are open to everyone, not just those with a connection to Beaumond House.

When you donate a minimum of £5 per dedication, you will be given the opportunity to purchase a limited edition Light up a Life pin badge, which this year is an infinite heart, for an additional £1.

Last year, feather-filled baubles were handmade by Day Therapy patients at Beaumond House, and the hospice has decided to offer these again. The baubles can be ordered for £5 at www.beaumondhouse.co.uk/light-up-a-life

Baubles are personalised and made to order. They can be collected at Beaumond House reception, one of the hospice’s charity shops or one of the Light up a Life services on Monday, 4th December, at Southwell Minster; Thursday, 7th December, at All Saints Church, Collingham; and Tuesday, 12th December, at St Mary Magdelene, Newark.

Andrea Ward, individual giving manager at Beaumond House, added: “Light Up a Life is not only a time to remember family and friends, but also a time to reflect on the care and compassion of the staff and volunteers of Beaumond House Hospice who have dedicated their time to those in their care.

“We wouldn’t be able to provide the excellent level of care we pride ourselves on without our fantastic supporters. It would mean so much if you could consider supporting this appeal.”
