Hospice celebrates launch of charity discount store

Posted onPosted on 24th Jul

Beaumond House Hospice Care has thanked everyone who went to the opening of its new Discount Charity Store on Sherwood Avenue, Newark.

The ribbon was officially cut by Beaumond House trustee and director Ian Phillips, who has been involved with the hospice for over 30 years.

Speaking at the opening, he said: “It is very poignant that we are standing here today in a unit once owned by John Oldham, who for so many years was a stalwart of Beaumond House.

“I am sure he will be looking down on us delighted at this latest step to expand our income generation.

“The shop, which marks our fifth retail outlet, is a key part of Beaumond House’s strategy to help bridge the gap between rising operational costs and limited government funding.

“We have recognised that expanding our retail outlets gives us the regular income we so desperately need to meet our day-to-day expenses.”

Visitors were among the first to explore the new shop’s range of discounted items, all while helping to raise vital funds for hospice care.

“The store will also play a big role in the hospice’s sustainability efforts by enabling the retail team to better manage stock and extend its repurposing offering.

The Discount Store is located at Richardson House, Sherwood Avenue, Newark NG24 1QF and is currently open on Tuesday to Saturday, from 9am-4pm.
