Holiday dream comes true for brothers

Share:

Two brothers in their 60s have been supported to fulfil a long-held dream to holiday together.

Ian Carnell (60) and his brother, Malcolm (68) live at Greenfield Close, Newark, part of Salutem Care and Education.

Greenfields Close is a residential unit supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health issues, and physical disabilities requiring complex care.

It said it has long been committed to enhancing the lives of its residents, fostering independence, and promoting meaningful experiences.

During their stay at a caravan park with in-house entertainment, Ian and Malcolm had the time of their lives. The trip aimed to cater to their individual needs and interests, creating a personalised experience. The brothers immersed themselves in various activities, delighting in the simple pleasures of life, such as visiting Skegness beach.

Michelle Green, manager of Greenfields Close, said: “Our primary focus has always been on empowering the individuals we support and fulfilling their dreams.

“Witnessing Ian and Malcolm’s enthusiasm and happiness throughout this holiday has been incredibly rewarding. It reinforces the significance of providing opportunities for our residents to enjoy life to the fullest.

“The success of this holiday would not have been possible without the dedication and care provided by Darya and Harry, who ensured the brothers’ safety, comfort, and enjoyment throughout the journey. I’m sure they also enjoyed their trip to the seaside!”
