A Greek feast is on the menu at Middlebeck thanks to a new addition to the line-up of regular food trucks in the heart of the community.
Regular food trucks park up outside Christ Church C of E School, on the corner of Bowbridge Lane and Flaxley Lane, giving local residents and neighbours a taste of cuisine from all over the world right on their doorstep, including pizza, Asian street food and rotisserie chicken.
The latest arrival is George is Cooking, serving up Greek cuisine including everything from gyros to fries, salads and dishes like hot honey halloumi. He will next be at Middlebeck on Wednesday, 23rd April which, appropriately, is St George’s Day.
The trucks are organised by Urban&Civic, the master developer behind Middlebeck, as part of its ongoing efforts to make the community a favourite with foodies, families and anyone looking to live or visit the area.
Simon Murphy, Urban& Civic’s community development lead for Middlebeck, said: “Our weekly food trucks are already a hit with Middlebeck residents and people living nearby, and the addition of George is Cooking adds another reason to come down and try something new.
“These regular trucks add to the great offering from Gannets, which is not only a hugely popular daytime spot but is now also hosting our great evening events, which include gin tasting, wine tasting and a Meet the Brewer night. Our next event on April 11th is a Gourmet Night featuring a special three-course meal with a menu created and prepared by the team at Gannets, which is already set to be a hit.
“These monthly nights, combined with the addition of weekly food trucks and one-off events are a reminder of the thriving, foodie-friendly community that we’re building here at Middlebeck.”
George Mcmillan, founder of George is Cooking, added: “I’m thrilled to be serving up my Greek cuisine to the community in Middlebeck. It’s great to be part of a line-up of changing food trucks, and can’t wait to see everyone and have them try my food.”
Regular food trucks at Middlebeck include Koala Kitchen, which serves Asian street food, as well as Cluck Brothers, serving rotisserie chicken, meal boxes, tenders, burgers and wings, and Firehouse Pizzas, which specialises in traditional Italian woodfired pizza. There are always opportunities for new traders to join in, and any vendors or traders interested in becoming part of the Middlebeck line-up should email [email protected]
