Free Easter fun at National Civil War Centre

Posted onPosted on 4th Apr

Newark’s National Civil War Centre is inviting families to play in its galleries for free.

Running until Saturday, 15th April, the museum’s Easter event has seen it filled with family fun from family-friendly facts about their stunning objects to games, interactive attractions, and more.

The centre’s Learning Team will be leading fun musket drills every day so that families can assemble their own troops and try their hand at being a Civil War soldier. The activity normally forms part of the museum’s school sessions and always sees a rousing response from excited children storming into battle with the replica muskets.

Celebrating the museum’s newest exhibition, Tubthumping, a display of ceramics by artist Emilie Taylor, there is also the chance for visitors to draw a design for their own pot and either display their wonderful creations for others to enjoy or take them away to put up at home.

The centre is open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 5pm. To find out more, visit www.nationalcivilwarcentre.com or follow the National Civil War Centre on Facebook.
