Six doctors have been recognised for their compassionate and outstanding care at Sherwood Forest Hospitals’ first ever Doctors’ Awards.

The ceremony at the trust, which runs Mansfield Community Hospital, Newark Hospital and King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton, was held virtually and was presented by medical director Dave Selwyn and chief executive Richard Mitchell.

There were six categories based on the trust’s CARE values with the awards designed to celebrate doctors who go above and beyond the call of duty and provide the best care for their patients.

A further three doctors were also given the Medical Directors’ commendation.

Winners were:
Excellence in Clinical Leadership Award — David Hodgson.
Excellence in Medical Education Award — Emma Fitzpatrick.
Inspirational Senior Award — Bakur Jamjoom.
Commitment to Collaborative and Considerate Working Award — Rebecca Barker.
Extra Mile Award — Owain Blackwood.
QI/Research Award — Hayley Roscoe.
Medical Directors’ Commendation — Ruwani Abeyratne, Elizabeth Elsey, Dan Smith.

Dave Selwyn said: “We had an excellent response to our first ever Doctors’ Awards and it was inspiring to read the nominations, detailing examples of high quality and compassionate care provided by our doctors.

“This has been an extraordinary year for many reasons, and the way our medical workforce at all levels has risen to the many challenges we have faced with skill, compassion and resilience has been wonderful to see.”
