Farm shop expansion plans passed

A popular farm shop is set to expand and create 15 full-time equivalent jobs after councillors gave plans the go ahead.

Maxey’s Farm Shop, Kirklington, wants to create a delicatessen, butcher, function room and tea room.

There would be car parking, a children’s play area and tearoom with the rest of the field given over to a wildflower meadow as it would be too small for agricultural use.

An existing farm shop would remain as offices and a salesroom for farm shop goods and locally-made crafts.

Newark and Sherwood District Council Planning Committee heard Maxey’s was part of Brickyard Farm, a 50-acre business providing goods wholesale to schools, restaurants and hotels.
