Cycling hub proposed for new residential development

Posted onPosted on 6th Jan

Plans to create a leading cycling facility at a new residential development in Edwinstowe have moved a step closer.

British Cycling, Newark and Sherwood District Council and Haworth may develop a leading cycling hub at the new Thoresby Vale site on the former Thoresby Colliery base.

Thoresby Vale will see 800 homes built and the partners want to provide the cycling facility as part of a drive to encourage residents to be more active.

The council is leading a masterplan for Forest Corner, Ollerton, which aims to improve accessibility to and around the area, including active travel routes between Forest Corner, Thoresby Vale and Edwinstowe. It is expected this would include active travel links to the proposed cycling hub.

Active Notts, which wants to improve people’s physical activity, is also involved in the discussions.
