Newark and Sherwood District Council has said that its offices will be closed on Monday, 19th September, which has been declared a bank holiday to allow people to reflect on the death of Queen Elizabeth II and watch televised coverage of her state funeral.

The council said: “Please note that our offices and telephone lines will be closed (on Monday) and will reopen on Tuesday, 20th September.

“Any bins due to be collected on Monday will now instead be collected on Saturday, 17th September.  This includes trade waste bins.

“If you need an emergency repair during the bank holiday, please call our out of hours number on 0800 561 0010.”
